An Interview with Sevinç Çokum

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bayram Baş, Chair of the Turkish Language Education Department; Assistant Prof. Dr. Neslihan Karakuş, a faculty member; and third-year students Merve Kılıç and Kübra Şahin, Nilgün Demir, Şükran Esatoğlu, and Ayşegül Arslan, took place on April 1, 2015, in the Yunus Emre Conference Hall at the Faculty of Education. The program began with a short documentary introducing Sevinç Çokum’s life and literary persona, followed by a photo presentation showcasing highlights from her life. The author was then invited on stage, where she shared her experiences with the young audience in an engaging conversation before answering questions posed by the students. During the conversation, while speaking about Crimea and her love for the Crimean people, Çokum mentioned Pushkin’s poem “The Fountain of Bakhchisaray,” was recited by Şükran Esatoğlu, a third-year student in the Turkish Language Education Department, bringing the program to a close. The event was immortalized when Sevinç Çokum, who signed her books for the students at the end of the program, posed for photos with them.
