Course Load: The program consists of 7 courses totaling at least 21 credits, along with a seminar course, a course on research methods, and a course on scientific ethics. In our programs in Turkish Language Education, Teaching Turkish to Foreigners, and Teaching Turkish to Turkish Children Living Abroad, only the Seminar course and the Research Methods and Scientific Ethics course are required. All other courses are elective.
Taking Courses from Different Programs/Universities: Of the 7 courses required (excluding the Research Methods and Scientific Ethics course and the Seminar course, which must be taken within the first 4 semesters of graduate study), 4 must be courses from the curriculum of the program in which the student is enrolled. A maximum of 3 courses from other graduate programs at our university (master’s/doctoral) or from graduate-level courses offered at other universities may be counted toward the total course load you are required to complete during your graduate studies. Therefore, when selecting courses, our students may choose courses from programs other than their own.
Seminar Course: This course can be selected as early as the second semester.
Thesis Advisor Assignment: In thesis-based master’s programs, a thesis advisor is assigned by the end of the first semester at the latest, based on the request of the student and the relevant faculty member, the opinion of the Department, and a decision by the Graduate School Council.
Specialization Course and Master’s Thesis Course: Students who have been assigned an advisor must select these two courses—offered by their advisor—every semester until graduation.
